Breed documentation: KWPN Color & White Rules
Allowed Colors & Markings: The KWPN studbook does not restrict base colors (chestnut, bay, black, grey) and permits standard white markings. White Markings & Belly Spots: Unlike closed registries (such as the Cleveland Bay or traditional Trakehner studbook), the KWPN does not disqualify horses for high white, blazes, or belly spots. Minimal sabino/W20 expressions—including four high whites, wide blazes, and ventral belly patches—are regularly documented in registered Dutch Warmbloods, tracing back to influential Thoroughbred and Gelderlander lines. Pinto Bloodlines: The KWPN also registers and approves full tobiano/pinto sport horses (e.g., through lines like Samber), making an isolated belly spot standard and non-penalizable.
